Officers with the Avondale Police Department responded to reports of a shooting around 7:15 p.m. near Avondale Boulevard and McDowell Road. When they arrived, they discovered that shots had been fired during a gathering at an apartment complex’s community pool.

Authorities said a 15-year-old boy sustained a gunshot wound to the leg. He was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was treated for injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

Police quickly located and detained two individuals in the vicinity who matched descriptions of possible suspects. However, officials have not yet released details about their involvement or whether charges will be filed.
