Superstore Target will be adding another location to Phoenix as they add their first flexible-format store to the state at the Camelback Corridor. Occupying the former space of Sports Authority on 16th Street and Camelback, the discount retailer will add to the plethora of new stores and restaurants springing up in the Phoenix area.
Flexible format stores, branded as CityTarget and TargetExpress, are smaller than regular Target and SuperTarget locations; they are typically located in downtown areas, college campuses, or highly populated neighborhoods and cater their products to the locals.
The 16th Street location will better serve those who live and work in midtown looking to grab something quick or for the weekly shopping trip. The new Target is set to open mid 2017 and will join the other Target stores at 44th Street and Thomas Rd and 19th Ave. and Montebello Rd.
