TEMPE — Aaron Sussex, 37, has been indicted on multiple charges, including First-Degree Murder, for allegedly opening fire at Mitchell Park in Tempe earlier this month, killing one person and injuring two others, according to Maricopa County Attorney Rachel Mitchell.
Details of the Shooting
On February 12, 2025, Sussex is accused of firing into a group of people at the park, striking three victims:
- One victim was shot in the neck, taken to the hospital in critical condition, and later died.
- Two other victims sustained gunshot wounds but are expected to recover.
Authorities arrested Sussex the next day at a relative’s home.

- Two counts of Aggravated Assault (Class Three Felony)
