Summer 2016 Movie Lineup

Summer days are upon us which means there’s a whole new wave of summer blockbusters hitting theatres to give us an excuse to get out of the sun and spend some quality time in a shaded movie theatre. Keeping up with all these releases can be a hassle so we’re going to talk about the most notable summer hits so you don’t miss out on the hottest summer films.

Summer is a time of action and as such you can expect a great deal of action films to hit the market such as X-Men Apocalypse (May 27th); Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of The Shadows (June 3rd); Warcraft (June 10th); The Legend of Tarzan (July 1st); Suicide Squad (August 3rd); and of course Independence Day: Resurgence (June 24th). So, if you’re in the market for movies about mutants, ninja mutants, fantasy wars, jungle boys, bad boys (and girls) or wars against aliens then these summer releases have you covered.

Of course, maybe you’re looking for something a little tamer, something you can take the kids to, and if that’s the case then you’re in luck. Pixar’s legendary hit Finding Nemo is finally getting a sequel in the form of the film Finding Dory (June 17th) which is sure to delight children and adults alike.  The Secret Life of Pets (July 8th) is another anthropomorphic romp that your kids will surely be pestering you to take them to. Rounding out the children’s movies selection this summer is Disney’s The BFG (July 1st) which is based on the classic children’s book by Roald Dahl.

Concerned about comedy? Never fear, there’s a wide selection of comical outings hitting the silver screen this summer. Central Intelligence (June 17th) is a spy comedy film starring legendary comedian Kevin Hart and the amazing Dwayne Johnson that is sure to leave you in stitches. Ghostbusters (July 15th) is a franchise reboot film you’ll either love or hate, but either way you’ll have to watch it to find out. If you want a little romance with your comedy, then be sure to check out Me Before You (June 3rd) the film based on the novel that is sure to warm your heart and make you laugh all at once.

Rounding out the summer movie line-up is the horror movie sequel The Conjuring 2 (June 10th) and Now You See Me 2 (June 10th) the sequel to the 2013 thriller starring Jesse Eisenberg. Whether you’re a fan of the originals or not, these films are sure to entertain.

It’s a busy summer for movies and hopefully you can find time to fit all the films you want into your summer schedule and still manage to spend some time out in the sun.
