Spirit Airlines Introducing Phoenix to Orange County Flight in January

Spirit Airlines will ring in the new year with a new flight between Phoenix and Orange County, California.

Starting Jan. 6, 2021, the ultra-low-cost carrier will offer a daily flight between Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport and John Wayne Airport.

“People are ready to travel again, and we are excited to expand our service portfolio from John Wayne with new nonstops to Phoenix and expanded service to Las Vegas, giving our guests more access to low fares on the West Coast,” John Kirby, Spirit Airlines Vice President of Network Planning, said in an email statement.

The announcement was part of a larger one by the airline about its expansion in Orange County, which will also include additional flights between John Wayne Airport and  airports in Las Vegas and Oakland.

Fares appear to start at $37 one way, but keep in mind that as an ultra-low-cost carrier, Spirit unbundles its fares. The initial price is low but you’ll be charged additional fees for things like carry-on bags, checked baggage and seat assignments, so factor those charges into your budget.
