Social Media Influencer Indicted After Allegedly Reaching 187 MPH to Evade Police in Phoenix

Prosecutors say the 26-year-old motorcyclist filmed himself weaving through Valley traffic at extreme speeds and taunting law enforcement.

A Valley social media influencer is facing felony charges after allegedly filming himself speeding through Phoenix freeways at nearly 187 miles per hour and posting the videos online.

According to the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office, Brett Carlin, 26, was indicted by a grand jury on two counts of unlawful flight from law enforcement and two counts of reckless driving. Officials say Carlin intentionally baited police into chases while recording the incidents for his followers.

In one pursuit, captured by the Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS), Carlin reportedly sped along the Loop 101, weaving through traffic at over 180 mph as officers attempted to catch up. Authorities say his social media posts showcased the dangerous stunts, prompting an investigation that led to his arrest.

“Driving at these kinds of speeds isn’t just reckless—it’s deadly,” said Maricopa County Attorney Rachel Mitchell in a statement announcing the indictment. “No online attention or viral fame is worth risking lives on our roads.”

A court commissioner has set Carlin’s bond at $20,000 secured, requiring a portion to be paid in cash before release. Prosecutors emphasized that the case highlights the growing risks of social media-fueled “clout chasing” behind the wheel.
