Soap That Specializes In Saving Lives

One of the most basic essentials we have in our homes are hygienic supplies, and it’s really easy to take something so common for granted.  The reality though, is that hundreds of countries worldwide don’t have the access to hygienic privileges as we do.  Because of this, Shawn Siepler wanted to make a valuable impact across the globe.

Siepler became very accustomed to hotel life while taking extended business trips, and he wondered what happened to the leftover soap bars in all the hotel rooms he had stayed in.  To his astonishment, many hotels end up throwing them away.  This method has been extremely wasteful, as nearly 2 millions bars of soap are thrown away every single day.  However, Siepler saw the larger picture and decided to take action.

Mounted on the rock of Siepler’s vision, he created Clean The World Charity, a foundation where hotels donate their leftover soap bars, conditioner, and shampoo.  The material goes through a process called rebatching, where it is melted down, sanitized, molded and redistributed to countries that need it the most.  Through their efforts, Clean The World has literally saved the lives of people who are most subjected to acute respiratory infection and diarrheal diseases, the top two killers of children 5 years and younger.  Since 2011 Clean The World accumulated 20 percent of America’s hotels who donated to their foundation. Last year they sent out 7 million bars of soap, and a massive count of 400,000 hygiene kits.

In their bold pursuit, Clean The World Charity has redistributed a total of 44 million bars of soap worldwide, to over 127 countries.  They have an audacious mission to set the hygienic standards higher all across the globe, and their efforts in saving lives are far from over.  United together, we can make the world a cleaner place one bar of soap at a time.
