Small Business of the Week: The Fit Alterations & Custom Design

From his incessant work ethic and attention to detail, Dennis Nicanor, co-owner of The Fit Alterations and Custom Design, can be seen full of positive energy listening to exactly what his clients are looking for and delivering custom alterations to perfection. A man whose standards are the highest of quality along with unmatched customer service and you have the ingredients to earn lifelong patrons and Phoenix’s number one clothing alterations shop according to Yelp and Google.

Having opened up the original The Fit location with Randall Zeamer in November of 2009, Nicanor has seen many of the other alteration shops in the Phoenix area go out of business while The Fit is set to open their fourth location this Saturday. What separates The Fit from the Valley competition to Nicanor, or known simply as Dennis by most of his clientele, is their incredible attention to detail given to every fabric that goes through their doors, excellent customer service, and a fast turnaround.

A successful alterationist to Nicanor takes on the creative challenge to fix an improperly tailored wedding dress under a very tight deadline and delivers the highest quality alteration to the bride before the wedding day time and time again.

To have a successful company as a small business owner, Nicanor says there must be a balance between life and the shop, often times the business takes priority if you are striving for success, not to mention the untold amount of hard work that serves as the foundation and sustenance for a prosperous business.

The Fit’s main location in central Phoenix is on 6307 North 7th Street which is just south of 7th Street and Maryland Avenue. The Fit is opening their fourth location this weekend and plans for a fifth location are underway.

To celebrate their brand new location, The Fit is having a grand opening event at their new shop starting at 2 p.m. on Saturday January 7th at 527 East Camelback Road, just west of 7th Street and Camelback Road, featuring hors d’oeuvres, refreshments, and discounted pricing on all alterations and retail clothing.
