Sky Harbor debuts updated Terminal 3

The first phase of Sky Harbor’s new renovation project on Terminal 3 was opened to passengers on Monday night.

The completed portion of Terminal 3 is said to have cost $150 million. The updated terminal now features spectacular scenic views, new ticket counters, an improved security checkpoint, and added charging stations throughout the new seating area.

Greg Stanton, Mayor of Phoenix, along with city council members welcomed the finished portion of Terminal 3 on Monday morning, stating “This new renovation will match the quality of Terminal 4.”

The estimated cost for the entire renovation is expected to be around $590 million.

“This enhanced terminal will help travelers find their way more intuitively while showcasing spectacular views of Camelback Mountain and the Phoenix skyline,” continued Mayor Stanton. “As the largest economic engine in Arizona, these improvements to Sky Harbor will benefit not only travelers but the entire region.”

The project is being financed through airport revenues that include parking, tenant fees, and concessions. The project has two additional phases that are still to be completed. These phases include replacing the south concourse and updating the north concourse. All these updates are aimed at improving customer experiences. The complete renovation on Terminal 3 is expected to be finished by 2020.
