Shooter Indicted for Terrorism in Connection with Attacks on DNC Office in Tempe

Jeffrey Michael Kelly Faces Multiple Felony Charges for Repeated Shootings at Democratic National Committee Office

PHOENIX, AZ – Maricopa County Attorney Rachel Mitchell announced the indictment of 60-year-old Jeffrey Michael Kelly for three separate shootings targeting the Democratic National Committee office in Tempe. The incidents occurred between September 16 and October 6, with Kelly initially using a CO2-powered gun before escalating to firearms in subsequent attacks.

Tempe Police report that over the course of these incidents, Kelly fired more than twenty rounds, damaging windows, doors, and walls of the DNC building.

On Monday, a grand jury indicted Kelly on multiple felony charges:


  • One count of Terrorism (Class Two Felony)
  • Three counts of Discharge of a Firearm at a Structure (Class Three Dangerous Felony)
  • Three counts of Unlawful Discharge of a Firearm (Class Six Dangerous Felony)
  • One count of Criminal Damage (Class Five Felony)

Kelly is currently being held on two cash-only bonds totaling $1 million.
