Self-Defense Seminar for Women on July 15

The Kharma Life Center is hosting a self-defense seminar for women on Saturday, July 15th from the hours of 1:00 to 3:00 pm. The course will teach women a basic set of physical defense moves, the mentality behind controlling potentially dangerous situations, and tips on how to avoid or manage a confrontation. The seminar will be presented by Mike Hayashi, an accomplished 7th Degree Black Belt in Karate as well as earning himself a Masters in Education. Mike has made over 25 television appearances to promote his regiment. In addition he was nominated for an Emmy for his famed defense course.

By combining his expertise in education and martial arts, he has made an easily digestible program. Although it only has a two hour length, Hayashi teaches you everything you need to learn for protection in a fun and simple package. This workshop is perfect for women who deal with the reality of sexual harassment. All techniques that are taught in this course do not require the use of weapons. The keyword here being self-defense means that the lessons focus on incapacitating your target within a small amount of time. The benefit of this is that you’re able to perform what you’ve been taught at any time without causing severe injuries.

The address for the recreation center is 700 W. Campbell Ave., Suite 1. Online registration prices are set at $50 and $30 for children ages 12 or older who are present with a parent. A portion of all proceeds from this event will be donated to the Save the Family Foundation of Arizona, a charity organization that provides shelter for families. They are also known for administering rehabilitation programs to youth, adults, and veterans alike.
