Sedona Launches On-Demand Shuttle Service to Enhance Local Transit

Sedona Shuttle Connect to Provide Affordable, App-Based Transportation for Residents and Visitors

SEDONA, Ariz. – As part of Sedona’s initiative to build a robust transit system, the city will launch Sedona Shuttle Connect on Thursday, August 29, 2024. This app-based, Uber™-like service will offer on-demand rides to and from destinations throughout a defined service area, including much of West Sedona, Uptown, Tlaquepaque, Hillside, and the Sedona Shuttle Park and Ride lots.

Residents and visitors can request rides using the TransLoc app on their smartphones or by calling the Sedona Shuttle hotline at 928-203-5152. The cost per ride is $2, with a discounted fare of $1 for seniors (60+), persons with disabilities, and others who qualify. Sedona Shuttle Connect will operate Thursday through Sunday from 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., and daily during peak periods such as spring break and holidays, including Labor Day.

“This service is the culmination of two years of planning and vehicle preparation. We are excited to finally put our plan into action and launch Sedona Shuttle Connect, which we expect to be popular with both residents and visitors,” said Robert Weber, Sedona Transit Administrator.

“Sedona Shuttle Connect will be a significant benefit for seniors and persons with disabilities who don’t drive or prefer not to. It will enable them to take social and recreational trips that Verde Valley Caregivers cannot provide,” said Kent Ellsworth, Executive Director of Verde Valley Caregivers.

Local hotel owner Steve Segner sees the service as a major advantage for visitors. “Visitors will be able to leave their cars at the hotel and get around Sedona using Sedona Shuttle Connect, along with the Sedona Shuttle Trailhead Shuttle and Verde Shuttle. This is another big step towards making Sedona a destination that can be enjoyed without the hassles of traffic and parking,” Segner stated.

The TransLoc app is available for download on Google Play and the App Store, and it will indicate if the potential rider is within the service area based on geolocation data.
