S’edav Va’aki Museum Opens Spring Applications for Teen Volunteer Program

Returning teens can step into leadership roles while new volunteers explore hands-on experiences in archaeology, history, and culture.

The S’edav Va’aki Museum is now accepting applications for its Spring Teen Volunteer Program, inviting students ages 14 to 17 to take part in a season of hands-on learning and community engagement.

Teens who participated in the museum’s fall session are encouraged to return as Teen Leaders—a new position that allows them to mentor incoming volunteers, lead activities, and help design fresh educational materials for the museum’s programs.

During the fall semester, ten dedicated teens contributed more than 100 volunteer hours. They guided visitors through interactive exhibits such as the Detective Archaeology activity, explored water samples under real microscopes, and worked directly with authentic artifacts. Volunteers also had the opportunity to meet the City Archaeologist and gain insight into careers in the field.

Teen volunteers played an essential role in events including International Archaeology Day, the 7th Annual Portal Fest, and the 48th Annual Indian Market, where they helped facilitate cultural demonstrations, crafts, and family-friendly activities.

The program offers participants the chance to develop professional and teamwork skills, all while contributing meaningfully to the museum and the wider community.

Applications are open now through January 10, 2026, and can be submitted here.
