The Maricopa County Elections Office has completed its tabulation process for the 2024 General Election, confirming a historic turnout for Scottsdale. Nearly 89% of voters participated, marking the city’s highest voter turnout in over 40 years.
Key Election Outcomes
New Mayor and City Council Members
- Lisa Borowsky was elected to her first term as Scottsdale’s mayor.
- Adam Kwasman and Maryann McAllen were elected to their first terms on the City Council.
- The newly elected officials will join Jan Dubauskas, who secured her council seat during the July 2024 primary election, when they take office in January 2025.
Proposition Results
Scottsdale voters decided on two significant ballot measures:
- Proposition 490: Approved with 58.25% of the vote, this measure implements a 0.15% city sales tax rate starting July 1, 2025. The additional revenue will fund improvements, maintenance, and protection for city parks, recreational facilities, and the McDowell Sonoran Preserve.
- Proposition 491: Approved by 66.15% of voters, this measure allows the city to increase its state-imposed expenditure limitation baseline, providing greater flexibility in managing city finances.
