Two weeks after her mother, Nancy Guthrie, vanished from her Tucson home, Savannah Guthrie is holding onto hope. In a video shared on Instagram Sunday night, the Today show co-anchor offered an emotional plea — and a message of faith in human goodness — as authorities continue their search.
“To whoever has her or knows where she is — it’s never too late,” Guthrie said softly in the video. “You’re not lost or alone. It’s never too late to do the right thing. And we believe — we believe in the essential goodness of every human being.”
The message comes as investigators in Tucson push into a third week of searching for the 84-year-old, whose disappearance has captured national attention. Nancy Guthrie was last seen on the night of Jan. 31, and her family reported her missing the following day.
Authorities say traces of blood were found on her front porch, and multiple ransom notes — later deemed suspicious — were sent to local news outlets. Both deadlines set in those notes have passed without resolution.
Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos told local station KOLD News 13 that recent police activity near Guthrie’s neighborhood stemmed from “a lead tracked down that led to a search warrant,” adding that no arrests have been made and there is still no sign of Nancy.
The FBI is now assisting in the investigation, awaiting the results of evidence testing connected to a search conducted last Friday.
Authorities have expressed growing concern about Guthrie’s well-being, noting that she relies on daily medication and has a pacemaker.
Local communities have continued to show support — some neighbors leaving yellow flowers outside Nancy Guthrie’s home as a quiet symbol of solidarity.
Savannah Guthrie, meanwhile, continues to share hope publicly. Her message, she said, is not only for whoever might be responsible but for everyone watching: “We are here. We believe.”
