PHOENIX — The Salvation Army will continue its holiday tradition of serving free Christmas meals to Phoenix-area residents in need on Wednesday.
The meals will be distributed at the south building of the Phoenix Convention Center, located at Washington and Third streets. For those unable to leave their homes, a meal delivery service will provide hot meals directly to homebound individuals.
Doors open at 9:30 a.m., with meal distribution running from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., or until supplies last. An outdoor area will also be available at 11:30 a.m. for guests with pets, where free pet food and supplies will be provided. Only service animals are permitted inside the convention center.
What’s on the Menu?
The Salvation Army plans to serve approximately 6,000 meals, which will include:
- Over 1,700 pounds of turkey
- 1,000 pounds each of mashed potatoes and stuffing
- About 90 gallons of gravy
- 700 pounds of vegetables
- A roll and pie with each meal

The event will also offer additional services and entertainment, including:
- Complimentary haircuts
- Family photos and photos with Santa Claus
- Emotional and spiritual support
- Live music and a children’s craft station
A Community Effort
This event, which has been a Salvation Army tradition for over 30 years, is made possible by the support of approximately 1,300 volunteers.
