Whether you are from New York or just love New York Style Pizza, sometimes craving that delicious cuisine can make you go crazy if you aren’t within driving distance. Well, if you are in the Gilbert, Arizona area, look no further than Sal’s Gilbert Pizza, featuring traditional New York Style Pizza.

After learning about the New York Pizza business from his brother and his restaurant in Brooklyn in the late 1980’s, Owner Sal Cuffaro opened his first pizzeria in Queens. But, it wasn’t until 2005, after making the move with his wife and children to Gilbert that Cuffaro opened Sal’s Gilbert Pizza.

Locals are quite familiar with the delicious pizzas, pastas, calzones, subs and much more but it was one significant instance that made Sal’s Gilbert Pizza known around the country and he’s a chef named Guy Fieri.

In 2014, Sal’s Gilbert Pizza was featured on Fieri’s Food Network Show, “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives” showcasing his delicious New York inspired cuisine, most specifically the Chicken Marsala and Baked Ziti Pizzas. The Food Network staple features small businesses, sometimes family owned and operated, eateries that have some of the most delicious cuisine you will find around the entire country, all with their own specialties. In order to film the show, Cuffaro had to close the restaurant for four days and create nearly every menu item, not knowing which Fieri would choose.

Cuffaro recently told the East Valley Tribune that his sales ‘picked up at least 25-30 percent right after the segment’. The pizzeria has counter service during their lunch hours and then table service at dinner time. He even said that although he has the capacity to hold one hundred guests at the current location into an empty space next door so that they can accommodate even more guests and their families in the future.
