Rock Star Sammy Hagar Sells Rare Ferrari for Record Price at Scottsdale Barrett-Jackson Auction

The Former Van Halen Frontman’s 2015 Ferrari LaFerrari Fetches $4.675 Million, Setting a New Record

PHOENIX — Legendary rock star Sammy Hagar made headlines on Saturday when his rare 2015 Ferrari LaFerrari sold for a record-breaking $4.675 million at the Barrett-Jackson 2024 fall auction in Scottsdale. The former Van Halen frontman flew into town for the event, where his one-of-a-kind vehicle attracted intense bidding, shattering the previous record for a 2015 LaFerrari, which sold for $3.9 million in August 2022 at Broad Arrow Group Auctions in Monterey, California.

Initially, Hagar had planned to auction off the Ferrari during Barrett-Jackson’s January 2024 Scottsdale event, but he decided to hold off in order to have a high-voltage lithium-ion battery installed in the hybrid supercar.

The “I Can’t Drive 55” singer’s LaFerrari, custom-designed for him, was one of only 499 ever built, adding to its allure. With the ability to accelerate from zero to 60 miles per hour in less than three seconds and a top speed of 217 mph, it’s no surprise the car fetched such a high price.

The inaugural fall Barrett-Jackson auction in Scottsdale kicked off on Thursday and runs through Sunday at WestWorld of Scottsdale, with Hagar’s Ferrari being one of the main attractions. The event is also being streamed live online for enthusiasts who want to follow the action from afar.

Barrett-Jackson introduced the additional fall auction this year due to overwhelming demand for consignment slots. The next big event on the auction calendar is the 2025 Barrett-Jackson auction, scheduled for January 18-26, following last year’s record-setting winter auction that brought in $200.9 million in sales.

With Hagar’s Ferrari sale setting a new benchmark, the upcoming auctions are sure to draw even more attention from collectors and enthusiasts alike.
