Register To Hike Under the Moon in Sedona

COVID-19 pandemic closures continue to lift around the state and now you can take full advantage of being adventurous under a full moon!

Starting on June 23rd, Red Rock State Park in Sedona will resume its monthly full-moon guided hikes.

Led by a local naturalist, this popular outing allows hikers to be guided up the rocks at sunset and finish the walk under the moonlight after watching the moonrise. Hikers can expect to cover 2 miles in about 2½ hours.

Registration is open for the June 23 hike, and participants can register up until the day before the event. Full-moon hikes are capped at 50 participants.

“We are still doing extra cleaning, still taking the right precautions, we are still recommending that people wear masks and we are just remaining vigilant in terms of picking up litter carefully and making sure our staff have all the supplies they need to sanitize and keep all the surfaces safe for the visitors and for the staff,” said Michelle Thompson, Arizona State Park and Trails chief of communications.

If moon hikes don’t interest you, there are other opportunities to get out and enjoy the beautifu nature at Red Rock State Park. There are daily guided nature walks as well as guided bird walks near Oak Creek. Participants will have the opportunity to learn the geology, wildlife and history of the area. Both guided walks are temporarily limited to 10 guests.
