Queen Creek, Arizona is Hosting a “Name Your Park” Event

Queen Creek, Arizona is hosting a “Name Your Park” event through August 18th, petitioning the public to submit suggestions. There are some rules to follow, but you can still be fun and creative in choosing the park’s name.

Located at 196th Street and Appleby Road, the West Park site is set to be completed in the fall of 2018 and is part of Queen Creek’s Five Park Master Plan.

Based on the needs of the community, the new West Park will have lighted youth baseball/softball fields, lighted multi-purpose field, playground, splash pad, walking trail, and restrooms/concessions, all partially funded by impact fees used exclusively for parks.

To be accepted, a suggestion must relate to the geographical location of the park; natural or geological features close by; have a cultural or historical significance to Queen Creek; be a family or individual name of someone who has made an impact on the town; or describe the use of the park.

Names that meet the criteria will be presented to Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee (PRAC) on Sept. 12.

PRAC’s recommendation will be given to the Queen Creek Town Council for consideration at the Oct. 4 meeting where the name will likely be revealed.

Name suggestions as well as an explanation to the chosen name will be required with submission. You may also request an email copy of your submission when using the online form.

Interested parties may submit their suggestions via mail: Attention Adam Robinson 22358 N. Ellsworth Road, Queen Creek, 85142.
