Prop. 490 Moves Forward to November Ballot Following Legal Challenge Dismissal

Scottsdale Voters to Decide on Sales Tax Adjustment for City Parks and Preservation

A Scottsdale sales tax question, Prop. 490, will be on the Nov. 5 General Election ballot following the dismissal of a legal challenge.

If approved, Prop. 490 would replace and reduce an expiring 0.20% city sales tax rate with a 0.15% rate. The funds generated would be dedicated to capital replacements and improvements at city parks and recreational facilities, as well as additional maintenance, preservation, and protection, including police and fire protection, of city parks and the McDowell Sonoran Preserve. This tax rate would expire after 30 years. If Prop. 490 is not approved, the current 0.20% city sales tax rate will expire.
