GRAND CANYON NATIONAL PARK — A power outage that began the evening of Sunday, June 1, continues to affect operations at the North Rim of the Grand Canyon, including the Grand Canyon Lodge.
The outage was caused by a transformer equipment failure near the lodge. As a result, overnight reservations at the lodge have been canceled since June 2, and full lodging and food services remain unavailable.
Park service crews have been working around ongoing storms to restore electricity to essential facilities, including the General Store, fuel station, campground showers, employee housing, the North Rim Campground, and other operational buildings.
Despite the outage, key visitor areas such as the Campground and Backcountry Information Kiosk, Ranger Roost, scenic viewpoints, and the North Kaibab Trail remain open. Evening programs are currently being hosted at the North Rim Campground, and the Grand Canyon Conservancy Store is expected to be open.
Visitors are encouraged to check www.grandcanyonnorth.com for the latest service updates and support.
