Police Seek Public’s Help in Double Homicide Case in West Phoenix

Two men shot and killed near 67th Avenue and Indian School Road; suspect still at large

PHOENIX — Detectives with the Phoenix Police Department are asking for the public’s assistance in locating a suspect involved in a deadly shooting that claimed the lives of two men on Thursday afternoon.

Officers responded to reports of gunfire just before 3 p.m. near the intersection of 67th Avenue and Indian School Road. When they arrived on the scene, they found two adult males suffering from gunshot wounds.

One of the victims, identified as 36-year-old Mario Martinez, was pronounced dead at the scene. The second victim, 33-year-old Luis Mendez-Armenta, was transported to a nearby hospital but later died from his injuries.

Detectives are actively working the case and believe the suspect fled the area before officers arrived. Investigators have not released any details about the suspect’s description or potential motive but are urging members of the public to come forward with any information that might assist in the investigation.
