Police Identify 2 Motorcyclists Killed in South Phoenix Shooting and Collision

Investigators say witness struck suspected shooter after seeing him open fire at traffic light

Phoenix police have released the names of the two motorcyclists who died after a shooting and ensuing collision late Friday near Seventh Avenue and Interstate 17.

According to investigators, Job Martinez, 53, allegedly shot Scott Kikes, 36, while both men were stopped at a traffic light shortly before 11 p.m. A driver who witnessed the gunfire then struck Martinez with a vehicle. Police say the motorist stayed at the scene and was questioned at length before being released.

Both Martinez and Kikes were taken to a hospital, where they later died from their injuries.

Detectives are still working to determine what led to the initial shooting. Police are asking anyone with information to contact Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS or 480-TESTIGO for Spanish speakers. Callers can remain anonymous.

The case remains under active investigation.
