Plan on Busy Commute Before Cardinals-Cowboys Game Friday Night in Glendale

Allow extra time, try to arrive early for 7 p.m. kickoff

Heavier traffic can be expected on westbound Interstate 10 in Phoenix as well as Loop 101 (Agua Fria Freeway) in Glendale Friday afternoon, Aug. 13, prior to the preseason game between the Arizona Cardinals and Dallas Cowboys.

Drivers should expect busier than normal conditions due to a mix of football traffic and regular commuting traffic traveling toward the West Valley, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation. Kickoff at State Farm Stadium is scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday.

Fans traveling to the game should allow extra time and try to arrive in the area near the stadium early. Parking lots will open four hours before kickoff.

Postgame traffic: ADOT also wants to remind drivers leaving the stadium toward downtown Phoenix and the East Valley that eastbound I-10 will be closed between the SR 51 “Mini-Stack” interchange and 40th Street (near Sky Harbor Airport) from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday (Aug. 16). The closure is for the new I-10 Broadway Curve Improvement Project. Drivers traveling from Glendale to the East Valley can consider alternate routes, including eastbound I-10 to southbound Loop 202 (South Mountain Freeway) or northbound/eastbound Loop 101 (Agua Fria/Pima freeways).
