Pilot Survives Biplane Crash Near Deer Valley Airport

Plane went down on carport outside Phoenix business, authorities say

PHOENIX, AZ — A man survived a biplane crash near Deer Valley Airport in north Phoenix on Saturday morning, according to Phoenix Fire officials.

Crews responded shortly after 11 a.m. to reports of a downed aircraft near Central Avenue and Deer Valley Road. The biplane had crashed onto a carport outside the Aero Automatic Sprinkler Co., just south of the airport.

Officials said there was no fire at the scene.


The pilot managed to climb out of the wreckage on his own and sustained only minor injuries. He declined transport to the hospital, Phoenix Fire said.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the crash. No other injuries were reported.
