In an effort to combat a shortage of healthcare workers, the Department of Veterans Affairs is looking to hire thousands of employees nationwide.

In VA in Phoenix, has a need to hire 500 employees. Those positions include registered nurses, psychiatrists, medical assistants, food service workers and housekeepers.

Recruiting to fill the vacant positions has been challenging as result of the federal government paying less than the private sector.

Government is working to fix this issue. New legislation has allowed for new incentives to be offered such as hiring bonuses and additional means to retain employees in positions.

The Phoenix VA Health Care System has scheduled an hiring fair on:
Saturday, October 22
8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Phoenix 32nd Street VA Clinic
400 North 32nd St.

To attend the event, applicants are required to apply first to at least one of the job announcements listed on USAJOBS. Applicants meeting qualifications for VA employment will receive an invitation to RSVP for the hiring fair.
