The City of Phoenix and Valley Metro are asking residents and transit riders to weigh in on a series of proposed public transportation updates aimed at improving service across the region.
Among the proposed changes is the introduction of microtransit service in three designated Phoenix zones. The on-demand transit option is designed to provide more flexible local transportation for riders in areas that may benefit from alternatives to traditional fixed-route bus service.
Transit officials are also proposing schedule adjustments to Phoenix RAPID commuter bus routes as part of ongoing efforts to improve efficiency and better match rider demand.
If approved, the service updates would take effect on Oct. 26, 2026.
Community members will have an opportunity to provide feedback during a public hearing scheduled for May 27 from 5 to 6 p.m. Riders can also submit comments through an online survey available through June 13.
City and Valley Metro officials said the proposed changes are part of broader efforts to maintain a regional transit network that supports residents, businesses and growing travel needs throughout Phoenix.
Additional details about the proposed changes and public comment opportunities are available on Valley Metro’s service changes webpage.
