PHOENIX — Authorities are searching for video evidence following a deadly shootout in the West Valley early Sunday morning that left a young woman dead and a teenage boy injured.
Amanda Franco, 21, was fatally shot in a residential area near 35th Avenue and McDowell Road, according to Phoenix police.
How Did Authorities Respond?
Officers were dispatched around 2 a.m. after receiving reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, they discovered Franco on the ground suffering from a gunshot wound.
As police approached, a large crowd was seen fleeing the area, with vehicles speeding away from what had been a massive house party. Firefighters attempted to save Franco, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Chaos at the Scene
While searching the neighborhood, officers found more than 300 bullet casings, with multiple homes and cars struck by gunfire. Despite the heavy exchange of shots, no arrests have been made.
Authorities also learned that a teenage boy had been injured in the same gunfight and was hospitalized with a non-life-threatening wound.
Investigators Search for Footage
Detectives have taken over the case, speaking with witnesses and combing the area for surveillance or cell phone footage. According to initial findings, the violence erupted outside the house after a fight broke out at the party.
Police believe there may be individuals who recorded the altercation or the moments leading up to it. Investigators are urging anyone with relevant footage to come forward.
