Phoenix Police Searching For Driver Who Struck and Killed 8-Year-Old Boy

Phoenix police are asking for the public’s help in finding a driver who fatally hit an 8 year-old child.

The hit and run incident occurred near 67th Avenue and Thomas Road on Saturday night. The child was found lying in the road in critical condition when officers arrived. Emergency responders rushed the juvenile to the nearest hospital, where he died from injuries. Phoenix police identified the victim as 8-year-old Jerel Glenn.

The victim was walking with his friends accompanied by an older teenagers coming back from the playground and basketball court. He reportedly was talking and laughing with his friends when he stumbled and stepped off the curb. He was hit from behind.


The suspect was driving a faded red or maroon truck northbound on 67th Avenue when it hit the victim. The suspect’s vehicle description is as a four-door lifted red in color truck with a chrome strip across the door.

Jerel’s family have set up a GoFundMe account to help with funeral expenses.
