Phoenix Police Officer Tyler Moldovan Released From Hospital to Begin Rehab More Than a Month After Shooting

More than a month after being shot eight times by a suspect, Phoenix Police Officer Tyler Moldovan has been released from the hospital.

In a statement released by the Phoenix Police Department Moldovan has been transported to a medical facility where he will receive rehabilitation for his injuries.

Moldovan had been in critical condition since the Dec. 14 incident, which occurred near 15th Avenue and Camelback Road around 2 a.m.

The shooting suspect, 24-year-old Essa Williams, has been indicted on six felony counts and has a $3 million cash bond. According to Maricopa County Prosecutor John Schneider, Williams continued shooting Moldovan even when he was on the ground. Williams is facing first-degree attempted murder of a law enforcement officer, possession of a weapon by a prohibited person, resisting arrest and attempted aggravated assault of an officer.

Williams’ trial is scheduled for April 28.
