A Phoenix police officer was injured early Friday morning after being struck by a suspected impaired driver who fled the scene, according to the Phoenix Police Department.
The collision happened just before 1 a.m. near Seventh Avenue and Indian School Road, where the officer was on routine patrol. Emergency crews transported the officer to a hospital with minor injuries, officials said.
The driver, identified only as a woman, allegedly left the area after the crash, but responding officers quickly located her nearby. Police said she was taken into custody without incident, processed for DUI, and will be booked into jail.
No additional details about the suspect or the crash have been released as the investigation continues.
