Phoenix police are investigating an apparent murder-suicide after an estranged husband and wife were found dead inside a north Phoenix apartment, continuing a series of similar incidents reported across the Valley in recent days.
Officers responded Tuesday afternoon to a disturbance call at an apartment complex near North Valley Parkway and Sonoran Desert Drive. Inside the residence, they found 42-year-old Alyssa Ann Sydow-Hoffert and 59-year-old Henry Arthur Sydow-Hoffert dead from gunshot wounds.
According to Phoenix police, preliminary evidence indicates Alyssa Sydow-Hoffert died after being shot multiple times, while investigators believe Henry Sydow-Hoffert died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Detectives processed the scene and continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the deaths.
The incident is the third suspected murder-suicide reported in the Phoenix metropolitan area in less than a week. Similar investigations are underway following a fatal shooting near 99th Avenue and Camelback Road in Phoenix on Friday and another deadly shooting Sunday in a Mesa neighborhood near Lindsay and Brown roads.
Authorities have not released additional details about what led to Tuesday’s shooting. The investigation remains ongoing.
