The Phoenix Police Department is introducing two new incident types to its online crime reporting tool as of Nov. 1: theft from business and graffiti. These additions aim to streamline reporting processes for the community, businesses, and police by offering more options for online reporting and reducing wait times for officers on the scene.
Now, the online reporting tool supports the following types of incidents:
- Theft from a business (including shoplifting where a subject is detained)
- Graffiti
- Theft from a vehicle
- Criminal damage
- Fraudulent use of a credit or debit card
- Lost property
- Identity theft
- Theft (general)
- Theft from a vending machine
- Stolen bicycle
- Harassing or nuisance phone calls
- Supplemental reports to add information to existing reports
The online system guides users through questions to ensure accurate reporting. Once submitted, users receive a follow-up email with the report status and instructions on providing additional materials, such as videos or photos, if applicable for business theft cases. This process enables businesses to report incidents more efficiently, minimizing the time spent waiting for an officer’s arrival.
