Phoenix Mayor Gallego Makes “Save Water Pledge” a Permanent Campaign

Initiative aims to build long-term water conservation culture amid climate challenges

PHOENIX — Mayor Kate Gallego announced this week that the “Save Water Pledge” — first launched on May 1, 2024 — will now be a permanent fixture in the city’s sustainability efforts.

Over 700 residents have already taken the pledge, committing to simple actions like fixing leaks, adjusting outdoor watering by season, and installing water-efficient appliances. The pledge is part of Phoenix’s broader strategy to promote water resiliency in the face of drought and climate change.

“I’m proud to make this a permanent part of how we work together to be the most sustainable desert city in the world,” said Mayor Gallego.

The campaign, led by the Phoenix Water Services Department, will include social media outreach, videos, and newsletter content throughout May to celebrate the pledge’s anniversary and expand participation.
