Phoenix Man Arrested for Fatally Shooting His Brother in East Phoenix

Victim Found Dead in Driveway as Police Arrest 49-Year-Old Brother on Murder Charges

PHOENIX — A tragic shooting in east Phoenix Friday morning left a 51-year-old man dead and his younger brother in custody, according to Phoenix police.

Officers responded around 8 a.m. to reports of a shooting near 46th Street and Calle Del Medio, where they found James Arthur Eaves lying in his driveway with at least one gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

After investigating, police identified James’ 49-year-old brother, Christopher Eaves, as the suspected shooter. Christopher had arrived at the scene with other family members and was arrested and booked into jail on murder and other charges.

Detectives say Christopher initially refused to answer questions about the shooting. His motive remains unknown as the investigation continues.
