Phoenix Man Arrested After Allegedly Fatally Shooting Stepfather During Argument

Police say 34-year-old Bradley Gibson turned himself in after his stepfather, 58-year-old William Baumgardner, was found shot multiple times at a Phoenix apartment.

A Phoenix man is facing murder charges after allegedly shooting and killing his stepfather during an argument on Saturday night, according to the Phoenix Police Department.

Officers responded to reports of gunfire around 9 p.m. near 37th Street and McDowell Road, where they found 58-year-old William Baumgardner suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to a hospital, where he later died.

Detectives said preliminary evidence indicates that 34-year-old Bradley Gibson and Baumgardner were arguing inside an apartment when the confrontation turned violent. Gibson allegedly pulled out a firearm and shot his stepfather before leaving the scene.

Gibson later turned himself in to police and reportedly provided evidence related to the shooting. He was booked into jail on murder charges after receiving medical treatment for an unrelated issue.
