Phoenix Man Accused of Fatally Shooting His Elderly Mother in Domestic Violence Case

51-year-old arrested after deadly shooting near 13th Avenue and Willetta Street

PHOENIX, AZ — A domestic violence incident turned deadly Wednesday afternoon when a 51-year-old Phoenix man allegedly shot and killed his elderly mother.

According to police, officers responded to a shooting call near 13th Avenue and Willetta Street around 2:03 p.m. on April 16. When they arrived, officers took the suspect, identified as Aaron Morse, into custody without incident.

Inside the home, officers found 76-year-old Susan Morse suffering from a gunshot wound. She was pulled from the home and treated by Phoenix Fire Department paramedics before being taken to a nearby hospital, where she later died from her injuries.


Homicide detectives responded to the scene and took over the investigation. Aaron Morse was booked into the Maricopa County Jail on a charge of homicide.

The area has since reopened, and investigators say additional details remain part of an ongoing investigation.
