The City of Phoenix has launched a new online resource, phoenix.gov/foodhelp, to assist residents experiencing food insecurity as federal SNAP benefits face temporary delays and interruptions beginning November 1, 2025.
While the city does not directly manage Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits, the new webpage offers residents guidance on where to find immediate food assistance, including connections to food banks, community programs, and volunteer opportunities.
The initiative, led by the Phoenix Human Services Department, comes amid uncertainty over federal funding for SNAP during the ongoing government shutdown. Nearly 900,000 Arizonans rely on the program for grocery support each month.
Residents can continue to apply for and manage SNAP benefits through the Arizona Department of Economic Security (DES), which oversees the program statewide. Those seeking local food distribution sites can also visit the Arizona Food Bank Network for up-to-date information.
Phoenix officials are also encouraging residents to help neighbors in need by volunteering or donating through GiveSmartAZ.org, a statewide initiative supporting food security and emergency assistance programs.
The city says the new webpage will serve as a one-stop resource for families navigating temporary food shortages while connecting them to community partners ready to help.
