PHOENIX — Local businesses across Phoenix are being encouraged to take part in the city’s expanding “602 Day” celebration, with registration now open for the June 2, 2026 event.
Now in its third year, the initiative highlights the city’s original 602 area code while promoting community pride and economic activity. Organizers say participation has steadily increased since the event’s launch, with more than 100 businesses joining in 2024 and that number more than doubling to over 250 in 2025.
City officials report that many participants have seen noticeable boosts in both customer traffic and sales during the early June celebration, with some businesses experiencing record-setting days.
Businesses and organizations can participate in a variety of ways, tailoring their involvement to fit their brand and audience. Popular ideas include offering themed discounts such as $6.02 deals, creating limited-time menu items or products inspired by “602,” or hosting special in-store events. Others use the day to engage customers online and celebrate Phoenix’s identity through social media campaigns.
Those who register by May 15 will be included in the official 602 Day promotions, which feature a dedicated website, interactive map, and coordinated marketing efforts designed to drive visibility and attendance.
City leaders say the event not only supports local commerce but also reinforces a shared sense of community, encouraging residents to explore and celebrate what makes Phoenix unique.
