Phoenix Infant Treated with Narcan After Fentanyl Exposure

A valley infant is recovering after having to be treated with Narcan due to fentanyl exposure Sunday.

Phoenix police officers responded to at an apartment complex near 79th Avenue and McDowell Road on Sunday around 2 p.m. after reports of an injured person. When officers arrived on scene, they found a family holding a baby with shallow breathing and lethargic. First responders treated the infant with Narcan after determining the baby had been exposed to fentanyl.

First responders transported the baby to the hospital for treatment. A blood test did test positive for fentanyl.


Phoenix police have reported that the child is expected to survive.

A full investigation is underway. Evidence of fentanyl was found in the parents’ apartment. Officers have not released the age of the child. No arrests have been made at this time.
