Phoenix Emerges As Energy Efficient City

Phoenix is rapidly becoming one of the most energy efficient cities in the nation. In fact, out of 51 cities sampled in the ACEEE’s recent survey for energy efficiency, Phoenix ranked highly at number 14.

Long Term Goals
Between both climate and energy related goals, Phoenix has made a pledge to work toward a more sustainable environment. As more and more of the cities population decides to commute without a personal automobile, achieving this goal is well underway.

Since the original pledge, made in 2015, Phoenix hopes to lead as one of the premiere cities demonstrating the highest rate of energy efficiency by 2050. City leaders are proud to work toward the goal of an economic system, that cuts back on carbon and waste.

Phoenix Politicians Prepared To Meet Opposition
Progressive Phoenix politicians are prepared to continue to meet criticism, and opposition, as they push for more energy-efficient legislation.

Around 100,000 street lights, will soon be replaced with LED lights in Phoenix. This is just one example of Phoenix’s recent attempts to lessen its carbon fingerprint. The city is becoming more energy efficient in other ways as well. For example, between both growing light rail and bus systems, Phoenix intends to cut back on its citizens use of personal automobiles. If this is successfully achieved, Phoenix will remain as one of the most energy efficient cities in the nation.

Other Leaders In Energy Efficiency
Among some of the other cities that ranked higher than Phoenix are Boston, New York, Seattle, Los Angeles, and Portland. Los Angeles in particular, demonstrated the widest range of improvement, going from 28th place to 4th in just 4 years.

Although many cities are taking it upon themselves to become more energy efficient, there is still plenty of room for improvement nationally. The important thing is that citizens do their part by starting locally, in the effort to become more energy efficient.
