A Phoenix man involved in a drug trafficking operation will spend the next decade in prison after investigators found a large stash of fentanyl and methamphetamine at his home.
Anthony Mead was sentenced Aug. 4 to 10 years in the Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation and Reentry after pleading guilty to selling methamphetamine and a weapons charge, according to the Arizona Attorney General’s Office.
The investigation began in September 2023 and ended with Mead’s arrest at his Phoenix home on Jan. 10, 2024. A search turned up more than 11,400 fentanyl pills, 4.1 pounds of methamphetamine, 40 grams of DMT, four firearms and $36,028 in cash. Investigators also found money counters and materials used to package drugs.
Mead had previous criminal convictions dating back to the 1990s, including cases involving the sale of dangerous drugs. He was indicted in April 2024 and later reached a plea agreement on two felony charges.
The case was investigated by the Arizona Attorney General’s Office, the DEA and the Maricopa County Drug Suppression Task Force. The sentence takes a repeat offender tied to a sizable drug operation off the streets for the next 10 years.
