Phoenix Children’s Hospital Nationally Ranked

The State of Arizona has another thing to be proud of, especially the residents of Phoenix. The Phoenix Children’s Hospital has been named in the list of top ranking best children’s hospitals nationwide for all of the ten pediatric specialties. This is a feat to be truly proud of!

The U.S News and World Report create the rankings. They do so by collecting clinical data from hospitals. A total of 10,000 pediatric specialists are also surveyed about where the sickest children in their specialty will be sent.

According to the rankings, the specialties that the Phoenix Children’s Hospital was able to score the highest in were Nephrology (No. 19), Cancer (No. 24), Orthopedics (No. 26), Neurology and Neurosurgery (No. 20), and Cardiology and Heart Surgery (No. 26). The hospital is one of the only 25 children’s hospitals located in the United States that were able to rank in all ten specialties for the year 2016-2017.

The hospital was also able to make it into the ‘Top 50’ for Gastroenterology & GI Surgery, Urology and Pulmonology, Neonatology, and Diabetes & Endocrinology. The Phoenix Children’s Hospital has more than 75 pediatric specialties.

The hospital has been ranking in the U.S. News for the past six years. According to H. Stacy Nicholson, who is the Physician-in-chief at the hospital, the current ranking holds more joy for the patients. He went on to say that a world-class hospital is deserved by the children of Phoenix, the Valley and Arizona, and the Phoenix Children’s Hospital is exactly that.

The current ranking also received praise from the President and CEO of the hospital, Robert Meyer, during a news conference. According to him the outcomes of the Phoenix Children’s Hospital were as good as those of any other hospital found in the country.

The Phoenix Children’s Hospital is also the only hospital from Arizona to make the list. With the current U.S. News & World Report 2016-2017 rankings it is safe to say that the hospital will continue to grow in areas of research, medical education, and providing quality care to the patients.
