Phoenix Celebrates Martin Luther King Jr. Day with March and Festival

Annual event honors Dr. King’s legacy with a 2-mile march and festivities at Hance Park.

PHOENIX — The legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. is being honored in Phoenix today with the annual MLK Day march and festival, a cherished tradition that brings the community together in celebration and remembrance.

Event Details

The day’s activities begin with a march at 9 a.m. from Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church, located at 14th and Jefferson streets near Eastlake Park. Participants will walk approximately two miles to Margaret T. Hance Park, located near Central Avenue and Culver Street above Interstate 10.

Following the march, the MLK Day festival will take place at Hance Park from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The festival will feature speeches, music, and activities celebrating Dr. King’s life and legacy.

Special Guests

Arizona Governor Katie Hobbs will join marchers at the starting point and later help kick off the festival alongside other dignitaries at Hance Park.
