PHOENIX — A bicyclist was killed Sunday morning after being hit by a car in west Phoenix, authorities said.
The victim, identified as 60-year-old Larry Leon Schepp, died from his injuries after the collision near 51st Avenue and Westcott Drive. According to the Phoenix Police Department, the incident occurred around 6 a.m.
Preliminary findings indicate that Schepp was either riding or walking his bicycle while attempting to cross 51st Avenue when the crash occurred.
The driver involved remained at the scene and cooperated with police.
Schepp was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. The investigation into the fatal crash is ongoing.
