PHOENIX, Ariz. – Justin Eric Lindsay, 29, of Phoenix, was sentenced to 42 months in federal prison, followed by three years of supervised release, for a string of bank robberies committed between August 2023 and January 2024. Lindsay pleaded guilty in June to two counts of Bank Robbery, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Arizona.
Lindsay targeted six banks over a six-month period, during which he falsely claimed to be armed in two of the robberies. He was arrested by agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in January 2024, bringing his spree to an end.
A Coordinated Law Enforcement Effort
The case was part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a national initiative aimed at reducing violent crime by fostering collaboration between law enforcement agencies and community organizations. The program encourages locally tailored strategies to combat crime and improve neighborhood safety.
The investigation involved multiple agencies, including the FBI, Tempe Police Department, Mesa Police Department, and Task Force Officers from the Peoria and Phoenix Police Departments.
Federal Prosecution
The United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Arizona prosecuted the case. The sentence, handed down by U.S. District Judge David G. Campbell, underscores the Department of Justice’s commitment to combating violent crime through initiatives like PSN.
Lindsay will serve his 42-month sentence in federal custody, followed by a supervised release period aimed at monitoring his reintegration into society.
