Phoenix’s aviation network has become a major part of the state’s economy, and Sky Harbor is preparing for even more passengers as the Valley continues to grow.
Phoenix Sky Harbor, Deer Valley and Goodyear airports together generate more than $44.3 billion in annual economic impact, according to the city. Sky Harbor alone supports more than 47,000 jobs and handles roughly 140,000 passengers and 1,300 flights on an average day.
The airport is also planning for future demand. Its 20-year development plan includes a new connection between the north and south airfields, a second north concourse at Terminal 3 and a new terminal on the west side of the airport. The city says those projects will be funded through airport revenue rather than local tax dollars.
The region’s other airports are playing growing roles as well. Phoenix Deer Valley Airport was North America’s busiest general aviation airport in 2025, with nearly 500,000 takeoffs and landings, while Phoenix Goodyear Airport supports aircraft maintenance, airline training and corporate aviation.
The numbers highlight how much more than passenger travel is tied to Phoenix’s airports. From jobs and commercial development to future infrastructure, aviation has become a key piece of the Valley’s growth strategy.
