Phoenix: A top 10 Winter Holiday Destination (but you knew that)

Paste magazine has come out with a list of the top 10 winter-holiday destinations, and it will not come as a surprise to anyone who lives in Phoenix that it’s landed there.

The site lists Phoenix at No. 4 among warm-weather destinations, although the praise starts out a little faint.

“Arizona may not be the top of your bucket list,” it begins, “but it should be considered for your next winter vacation. Phoenix was voted in the top 5 for lowest travel costs and the fewest hassles.”

Sounds about right.

The brief article recommends Las Noches de las Luminarias at the Desert Botanical Gardens as a holiday-themed activity. “Some say you’re not a true Arizonian until you see Camelback Mountain,” it continues, “so why not stay there while visiting? The Sanctuary Resort and Spa is right next to it so the landmark greets you every morning.”

The list references WalletHub’s rankings, whose categories include costs and hassles; cost rank; attractions; weather conditions; and weather activities.

Tucson checked in at No. 6 among warm-weather destinations, as well.
