Phoenix 14th among ground-transportation surcharges

An Associated Press investigation has found that Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport ranks 14th among the 50 busiest airports in the U.S. when it comes to fees surcharges paid by travelers using taxis, shuttle buses or other types of ground transportation.

The types of fees vary from airport to airport. Phoenix fees, per originating passenger in 2015, were $0.41. The most-expensive airport was Las Vegas McCarran International, with $0.84. The cheapest was Chicago Midway International, with $0.02.

All told, U.S. airports collected more than $183 million from travelers.
